Responsibilities & Requirements
- Assist and deliver patient care duties under the supervision of the provider and/or practice manager.
- Provide administrative support throughout the practice.
- Assist the provider in examination and treatment of patients, performing delegated duties as directed.
- Interview patients, measure vital signs and record information in patient charts.
- Prepare treatment rooms for examination of patients.
- Be cross‑trained to perform duties to enhance efficiency and continuity of patient care.
MA/CMA certification/registration required:
Current Medical Assistant certification/registration as CCMA, CMA (AAMA), NCMA, RMA (through AMT) or completion of KHMG Medical Assistant Training Program or MA program through an accredited institution of higher learning and successful attainment of certification/registration within 15 months of hire.
LPN requirement:
Graduate of accredited LPN program (or equivalent) with current Ohio license.
Required
- Medical assistants who are not certified or registered at the time of hire will be restricted from administering medication and entering Epic orders until the required credentials are obtained and verified.
- Examples of medical assistants who are not certified/registered:
- MA with on‑the‑job training only
- MA who has completed an accredited program but has not passed the certification exam
- MA who has a lapsed/expired certification
- STNAs or CNAs with at least 6 months of direct patient care experience
Preferred Qualifications
- 1‑year clinical experience in a medical/physician office setting preferred.
- Practical knowledge in examination process, diagnostic and treatment room procedures, medical equipment, safety hazards and precautions, confidentiality/discretion preferred.
- Experience with use of electronic medical records preferred.
