Responsibilities & RequirementsThe Registered Nurse utilizes the nursing process in providing nursing care to patients in all settings in collaboration with other health care providers. The RN is accountable for his/her own professional development and practice within the scope of care defined by law. Utilizing organizational resources the RN acts as a patient advocate for the delivery of safe care including delegation of Neighbourhoods and participation in performance and practice improvement activities.

The Registered Nurse reports to the Clinical Nurse Supervisor of the Wound Center.
- Holds self and others accountable for safety by ensuring appropriate procedures and guidelines are followed.
- Responsive to coaching and feedback for improvement; demonstrates continued progress by improving competencies, skill development and applying learning.
- Demonstrates appropriate judgment and thinking skills for situations.
- Attends (or reviews via Health Stream) a minimum of three Town Hall meetings.
- Provides appropriate wound care treatments as ordered.
- Oversees work of wound care technicians.
- Utilizes wound center resources efficiently.
- Instructs/educates patients in chronic wound care, treatment and issues related to diagnosis.
- Uses proper aseptic and/or sterile technique where appropriate. Instructs patients in infection control.
- Assists patients in obtaining resources to support successful wound healing.
- Assists patients in insurance qualifications for care.
- Works with Home Care agencies, ECFs, Diagnostics and Physicians for Continuity Presiden.
- Exercises good judgment and discretion in applying and interpreting policies and procedures.

Minimum Education- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (NLN or CCNE).
- New graduates from non-accredited programs with a clinical rotation at a network hospital are considered.
- Bachelor of Science in nursing preferred.
- RNs returning after five or more years may need to provide evidence of successful completion of a refresher course.
Registered Nurse, licensed in the state of Ohio, United States.
Required Skills- BLS certification.
- ACLS, NRP, PALS as determined by unit scope of practice.
- Maintains current nursing competency in wound care, hyperbaric therapy (if applicable), infection control/blood borne pathogens, and hazardous materials.
- Working knowledge of EMR / EPIC.
- Above average communication skills. Able to establish rapport with patients and families.
