Position SummaryReports to the Payroll Manager and is responsible for performing a broad range of accounting and analytical functions that support payroll operations and financial reporting. This position prepares payroll-related journal entries and account reconciliations, supports month-end close activities, maintains payroll documentation, and assists with payroll inquiries from employees and internal departments. This position also helps to ensure the accuracy and integrity of payroll-related financial information, supports audit and compliance requirements, and contributes to continuous process improvement while maintaining the highest level of confidentiality.
EssentialFunctions
- Prepare month-end journal entries related to payroll activities.
- Oversee and assist with monthly payroll-related account reconciliations, investigate, and resolve discrepancies.
- Reconcile and monitor outstanding payroll checks.
- Provide account coding for accounts payable invoices and assist the Accounts Payable team as needed.
- Maintain payroll procedures and process documentation.
- Support the Finance and Shared Services teams by responding to employee payroll-related inquiries.
- Assist with internal and external audit requests as needed.
- Identify opportunities to improve payroll related processes, controls, and efficiencies.
- Maintain a high degree of confidentiality regarding all payroll-related matters.
- Contribute to the company Culture of Caring by maintaining positive and respectful relationships with employees, customers, vendors, program recipients, and our community.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
- Three years of accounting experience required.
- Relevant experience may be substituted for education at management's discretion.
- Knowledge of payroll processes and payroll accounting preferred.
- Experience with Oracle Fusion preferred.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
- Ability and willingness to learn new processes, technologies, and information systems. Ability and willingness to travel as needed.
- Unless waived by management, a valid driver's license in the state of employment and an acceptable driving record are required.
