About the Opportunity

Are you ready to take your career to the next level? Freedom Professional Services is on the lookout for an experienced Clerk of Works to join our dynamic electricity transmission and distribution civil design team. If you have a strong technical background in civil engineering and contract administration, this could be the perfect fit for you!

In this role, you will ensure construction compliance from start to finish on a variety of electricity substations across Yorkshire and the Northeast of England. You'll collaborate with our internal teams-civil, structural, electrical, surveys, wayleaves, cables, and environmental-as well as contractors, clients, and stakeholders.

• Ensure all civil construction work meets design specifications, standards, and policies.
• Support design engineers in managing civil engineering elements of projects.
• Utilize site surveys, plans, and technical knowledge to guide contractors during construction.
• Assist in preparing and reviewing site construction programs with contractors and project managers.
• Plan project Inspection Test Plans (ITPs) and monitor contractor compliance.
• Conduct Quality, Health & Safety, and Environmental Audits as required.
• Prepare weekly/monthly reports for clients.
• Lead on-site coordination meetings on behalf of the client.
• Collaborate with clients and internal teams to ensure effective project delivery, providing updates and identifying potential risks.

We're seeking a dedicated and forward-thinking Clerk of Works with:

• Experience as a Clerk of Works in the civil/built environment, particularly with, masonry buildings, steel portal frames, and reinforced concrete structures.
• Strong communication skills to effectively engage with contractors, colleagues, and clients.
• Knowledge of the CDM Regulations 2015.
• A technical qualification in Civil Engineering or a relevant qualification in Building Construction.
• Membership or progress towards registration with the Institute of Clerks of Works and Construction Inspectorate of Great Britain.
• Solid understanding of construction methodologies and risk management.
• CSCS registration in a relevant discipline.
• A full UK driving license.

• Ability to manage multiple technical projects in a challenging environment.
• Vocational training or certifications in construction-related fields.
• Awareness of Equality, Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging legislation.
• Knowledge of sustainability and environmentally friendly practices.
