Audit Manager - Flexible / Hybrid | London
Are you an experienced auditor looking to take the next step in a varied and commercially-focused role? We're partnering with a well-established, growing accountancy practice in London seeking an Audit Manager to join their dynamic team. This is a hybrid position offering genuine flexibility, exposure to a diverse client base, and the opportunity to develop your commercial and leadership skills.
About the RoleThis is a portfolio-led, assignment-based position where you will manage audits from planning through to completion. Approximately half of your clients will be professional service firms, giving you the chance to work with law firms, accountancy practices, and other professional partnerships. While the role is aimed at Manager level, strong Senior Managers with relevant experience will also be considered, provided there's no immediate desire to progress to RI.
The role blends hands‑on audit delivery with client relationship management and business development. You'll be responsible for planning engagements efficiently, ensuring quality, and identifying opportunities to add value to clients and the firm.
What You'll Be Doing- Leading audit engagements from start to finish, ensuring compliance with UK auditing and accounting standards
- Acting as the primary contact for a portfolio of clients, including professional firms
- Conducting onsite manager reviews and overseeing audit work across assignments
- Managing smaller audit teams directly (2-3 members) while collaborating across a wider audit group of ~40 professionals
- Supporting business development through pitch involvement, identifying opportunities within existing clients, and building commercial visibility
- Advising professional firms on projects such as KPI benchmarking, partner remuneration frameworks, and training delivery
- Planning audits to maximise efficiency while maintaining firm-wide productivity standards
- Encouraging, motivating, and providing constructive feedback to team members
- ACA or ACCA qualified (or equivalent) with experience at Audit Manager level
- Strong background in general practice within a professional services firm
- Significant experience auditing professional firms, including law firms and accountancy practices
- Confident managing multiple audits and deadlines concurrently
- Exposure to, or desire to develop, business development skills
- High personal motivation, attention to detail, and commitment to audit quality
- Experience with client money audits (e.g., SRA Accounts Rules Reviews) is advantageous but not essential
- Competitive salary: £62,000‑£70,000 (indicative, dependent on experience)
- Hybrid working with flexibility to balance home and office time
- Exposure to a wide variety of industries, including professional services, technology, real estate, retail, and media
- Career development opportunities and structured support for progression
- A supportive, 'People First' culture where client-facing experience is encouraged
This is an exciting chance for an ambitious Audit Manager to join a London-based accountancy practice and make an immediate impact on a diverse client portfolio.
