About the FirmOur client is a well-established and growing accountancy practice providing a comprehensive range of accounting, tax, advisory and business support services to a diverse portfolio of SME, owner-managed business and corporate clients.
Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Client Assistant Manager / Manager to join their team and play a key role in managing client relationships, reviewing work, and supporting the development of junior staff.
The RoleThe successful candidate will be responsible for managing a portfolio of clients, overseeing the preparation of accounts, reviewing work completed by junior team members, and ensuring the delivery of a high-quality service to clients.

Key Responsibilities- Manage a portfolio of clients across a range of industries and sectors.
- Review statutory accounts prepared by junior and semi-senior staff.
- Prepare and review year-end accounts for limited companies, partnerships and sole traders.
- Ensure compliance with UK accounting standards and relevant legislation.
- Review corporation tax returns and related computations.
- Act as the main point of contact for clients, providing proactive advice and support.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships.
- Assist Partners and Directors with client management and business development activities.
- Manage workflow, deadlines and resource allocation within the accounts team.
- Mentor, support and develop junior members of staff.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiencies and add value to client services.
- Support clients with management accounts, budgeting and ad-hoc advisory projects where required.
- ACA or ACCA qualified (or qualified by experience with significant practice experience).
- Previous experience working within a UK accountancy practice.
- Strong technical knowledge of accounts preparation and financial reporting.
- Experience reviewing work completed by junior staff.
- Proven ability to manage multiple client relationships.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organisational and time management abilities.
- Proficient with cloud-based accounting software such as Xero, Quick Books and Sage.
- Experience managing a client portfolio.
- Exposure to advisory and business consulting work.
- Previous supervisory or managerial experience.
- Experience working with a varied SME client base.
