This role would suit someone with strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage competing deadlines in a busy environment.

Main duties of the job

As a key member of the practice administration team, you will provide high quality secretarial and administrative support to GPs, clinicians, and practice management. You will ensure that referrals, reports, and patient communications are managed efficiently, accurately, and in line with NHS and practice standards.

We are looking for an organised, motivated Medical Secretary to join our administrative team and support the smooth running of our clinical services.

Job responsibilities
  • Key Responsibilities
    • Prepare and process GP and clinician referrals using eRS and other NHS systems
    • Produce medical letters, reports, and documentation promptly and accurately
    • Manage incoming clinical correspondence, ensuring correct workflow and coding
    • Act as a point of contact for hospitals, community services, and patients regarding referrals or medical documentation
    • Support clinicians with dictation typing, tasks, and administrative queries
    • Maintain accurate patient records, ensuring all information is handled confidentially and in line with GDPR
    • Support recall systems, results workflows, and CQC related administrative processes
    • Assist the wider administration and reception team during busy periods

  • About You
  • We are looking for someone who is:
  • Experienced in medical administration or secretarial work (GP practice or NHS experience desirable)
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
  • Confident using clinical system Systm One
  • A strong communicator with a professional and compassionate manner
  • Able to work independently and as part of a supportive team
  • Committed to maintaining patient confidentiality and high standards of care
