Overview
Manchester Met 2025 graduates based in the UK for the duration of this role. You must have graduated from an undergraduate course at Manchester Met in June 2025 to apply. Applications from current or previous postgraduate students are not accepted. Background:
The internship offers an opportunity for a graduate to gain work experience in a busy admissions department which received over 100,000 applications in 2025. You will receive hands-on training to support the department during a key period in the admissions cycle. You will contribute meaningfully to the department and the applicant experience. The role focuses on supporting day-to-day operations and helping incoming students to overcome enrolment issues.
- Supporting the delivery of the effective processing of undergraduate, postgraduate and international applications to Manchester Metropolitan University
- Support with admissions compliance checks such as DBS clearance, occupational health checks, etc. and logging the data onto our database
- Troubleshoot and resolve systems issues
- Support the tuition fee assessment process through accurate assessments of applicant information against set criteria
- Input and maintain applicant information on our admissions system, Thesis
- Aid with annual major admissions projects
- Provide exceptional service to our enquirers, through telephone and email
- Provide admissions support at recruitment events, such as open days
- Responsible handling of confidential information; all communications will be via an applicant’s student e-mail address
- Experience of working in an office environment and expectations of a professional employee
- Gaining knowledge of admissions processes, including in-depth knowledge of fee assessment and compliance requirements
- Knowledge of the inner workings of a busy higher education institution
- Improving professional written and verbal communication skills
- Experience of team collaboration and raising issues or feedback
- Reflection on skills development
- Critical thinking while evaluating applications and outcomes of background checks, identifying potential issues and prioritising tasks
- Opportunity to use Manchester Met’s admissions digital systems and external software
- Expand network across the Admissions and Recruitment department as well as across the whole university
Shortlisted applicants will be invited on campus during w/c 20 July 2026 for a compulsory assessment centre. There will be no capacity to offer an alternative date. The assessment centre is expected to include networking with Hiring Managers, a group task, and other activities.
