The Associate, Climate works within our consulting team to advise our clients through multifaceted consulting engagements across sectors on climate‑related work including developing greenhouse gas emissions inventories, setting carbon emission reduction targets, developing climate transition strategies, verifying carbon emissions and assessing climate risks. You will conduct complex analyses and research to create and contribute to client deliverables, be trained in our approach to client work and all our services and methodologies, and significantly contribute to the planning and implementation of client projects as an experienced contributor or technical lead.
Key Responsibilities- Manage quantitative data collection processes including primary and secondary data, ESG initiatives surveys, perform greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) accounting and verification.
- Deliver on end‑to‑end Science Based Targets work streams, from carbon footprint baseline year calculations to carbon reduction forecasting/pathways and submission to the SBTi.
- Assess climate‑related risks, including physical and transition risks.
- Perform research on climate policies and industry practices.
- Conduct analyses of climate‑related data from various sources to identify trends, patterns, risks and opportunities.
- Prepare presentations, reports, workbooks and other client deliverables.
- Support stakeholder engagement interviews across a variety of functions and industries to gather under reported or new ESG performance data and information.
- Contribute to firm internal efforts including business development, thought leadership and administrative activities.
- Understand how to implement sustainability, ESG, SBTi and net zero initiatives, with a particular interest in ESG and climate risk assessment and ESG data management.
- Understand sustainability/ESG and climate accounting, management and disclosure standards and regulatory frameworks such as GRESB, ISO
14064, TCFD, IFRS, SASB, CDP, SBTi, EU Taxonomy, SFDR, CA SB 253, CA SB 261, EU CSRD. - Have experience with ESG ratings providers and assessments such as ISS, MSCI, Sustainalytics, CDP and the Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark (GRESB).
- Have experience and knowledge of the GHG Protocol and related standards (e.g., Scope 2 Standard, Product Standard, Scope 3 Standard, etc.).
- Have strong analytical, technical and database management skills.
- Be committed to learning new concepts and industry best practices within a fast‑paced, high‑performance consulting environment.
- Be able to communicate and give presentations effectively and professionally.
- Demonstrate the ability to lead client projects with minimal oversight, managing deliverables, timelines and communications effectively.
- Possess strong writing and editing abilities.
- Be comfortable executing multiple projects and high‑quality deliverables simultaneously with excellent time‑management skills and sense of prioritization.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- 3+ years of relevant professional experience (i.e., climate change, sustainability and ESG, management consulting, risk and data management)
- GHG Protocol familiarity and training
