About the department

The Welbeck Central Pharmacy is a specialist clinical pharmacy service supporting a high‑performing private day‑case centre in London. It collaborates closely with consultants, clinical teams and supply chain partners to deliver timely access to medicines, maintain robust stock control, and support high standards of patient care.

About

the role

This role plays a key part in supporting the effective operation of pharmacy procurement, stores, and distribution services. Working closely with senior team members, you will help coordinate daily activities, act as a point of escalation for technical staff, and ensure the smooth running of supply chain functions. You will contribute to maintaining a safe, efficient, and compliant service, ensuring medicines are available when and where they are needed.

Alongside supply chain responsibilities, the role also involves contributing to dispensary and medicines optimisation activities. This includes supporting accurate dispensing, medicines reconciliation, and patient counselling. You will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary environment, helping to deliver high‑quality care while ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory, and professional standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the day‑to‑day running of procurement, stores, and distribution activities
  • Act as a first point of escalation for technical staff within the stores and supply function
  • Assist in maintaining compliance with regulatory standards and internal procedures
  • Generate and process medicine orders using appropriate systems and methods
  • Manage urgent medicine requests to ensure timely supply aligned with patient needs
  • Monitor stock levels, investigate discrepancies, and support stock control processes
  • Contribute to the management of supply shortages and sourcing of alternative products
  • Support invoice processing and financial procedures in line with organisational policies
  • Participate in audits, reporting, and the development or review of standard operating procedures
  • Provide training, mentoring, and support to junior staff and new team members
About you

You are a motivated and adaptable Pharmacy Technician with strong organisational, leadership, and problem‑solving skills. You are confident in prioritising workload, using your initiative, and working both independently and as part of a wider team. Your approach is proactive, and you are committed to maintaining high standards in all aspects of your work.

You bring experience in pharmacy services, with a solid understanding of procurement, distribution, and medicines management processes. You communicate effectively with a wide range of people and are comfortable escalating issues when needed. You are also committed to ongoing professional development and are willing to adapt to new systems, technologies, and ways of working.
