Overview
The Finance Automation & Process Manager will work with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for process improvements, design and implement automation solutions, and drive successful deployment to enhance operational efficiency and accuracy. The role leads digital project management and implementation for finance digital transformation initiatives, including automation, from discovery through implementation, ensuring on-time delivery, within budget, and to the required standards.
Responsibilities- Identify, assess, and prioritise opportunities for digitalisation and automation that offer enduring business value across finance functions.
- Facilitate workshops, interviews, and process mapping sessions to define optimised, scalable workflows before build.
- Oversee delivery through internal IT resources and/or offshore teams, ensuring business requirements are translated into technical designs.
- Apply process improvement methodologies and leverage AI, machine learning, and analytics where relevant to enhance workflows and insights.
- Ensure solutions meet governance, compliance, and security requirements and are thoroughly tested prior to deployment.
- Manage programme roadmaps, milestone tracking, and dashboards to realise benefits and track progress.
- Engage stakeholders across finance, IT, and other key areas to align on priorities and secure buy-in; communicate objectives, risks, progress, and benefits regularly.
- Act as the bridge between business users and technology teams to ensure final solutions meet agreed quality standards.
- Build and maintain knowledge, best practices, and process documentation to support continuous improvement.
- Create and deliver training and onboarding for impacted finance teams; produce clear process documentation and user guides to drive adoption.
- Monitor uptake of new solutions, gather feedback, and implement refinements to ensure sustained benefits.
- Maintain knowledge of automation, low-code solutions, and other technologies relevant to finance operations.
- Establish and maintain governance frameworks for digital and automation initiatives, including documentation standards, sprint planning, and role clarity.
- Ensure embedded performance monitoring and maintenance procedures post-go-live.
- Build and maintain knowledge, best practices, and process documentation to support continuous improvement.
- Create and deliver training and onboarding for impacted finance teams; provide clear process documentation and communications to drive adoption.
- Monitor adoption, collect feedback, and implement refinements for long-term benefits.
- Experience in assessing, executing, and documenting digital transformation opportunities; strong understanding of global finance processes and policies.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills (written and verbal); ability to present financial information to senior stakeholders.
- Familiarity with SAP ECC/S/4
HANA, Snowflake, Workday, and Microsoft Power Platform is valued. - Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- Professional certification in project management is highly desirable;
Lean Six Sigma or process improvement qualifications are advantageous. - Qualified or Part-Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) desirable but not essential; strong finance process knowledge is key.
- 3+ years in project management and process improvement.
- 3+ years in an operational finance role within an international business.
- Experience in development and documentation of finance policies and procedures.
- Adaptable and organized, with experience working in an international, multi-entity group and delivering projects to a successful conclusion.
- Flexible, positive, and able to manage multiple priorities in a changing environment.
- Problem solver with curiosity to drive value creation and a self-starter who can work with limited direction.
