Role overviewAs an Outreach Rough Sleeping Coordinator, you will contribute to Westminster’s strategic response to rough sleeping and homelessness. You will oversee rough sleeping, homelessness accommodation and related services, ensuring joined-up support that helps people move away from street-based lifestyles. The role involves shaping strategy, driving new ideas, and coordinating the right people and teams to deliver practical outcomes on the ground.
Responsibilities- Coordinate inter-agency responses by bringing together Members, partners, internal teams and key stakeholders to reduce rough sleeping and support people with complex needs.
- Lead strategic projects and programmes of change to deliver agreed outcomes and continuous improvement.
- Build and maintain strong partnerships across the Council and external organisations, translating relationships into practical on-the-ground support.
- Provide leadership to guide service delivery, support teams through complex work, and ensure efficient use of resources with an outcomes focus.
- Contribute to service improvements by applying empathy and good judgement when working with people at challenging points in their lives.
- Substantial experience in leading a significant service or function within a large, multi-disciplinary organisation.
- Proven track record of managing people, budgets, resources, and performance; experience turning strategic objectives into operational plans.
- Visible and supportive leadership with ability to motivate and develop professional staff and foster a positive culture.
- Experience working in complex political and service environments; strong relationship-building with senior managers, partner organisations, communities, public agencies, and statutory bodies.
- Strong financial and budget management skills, including business planning, quality and performance management; ability to interpret financial and performance data to identify improvements and opportunities.
- Procurement, supplier relationship management, and commercial thinking; ability to identify new opportunities and deliver value for money.
- Understanding of local government issues, public sector management, statutory responsibilities, and a flexible, partnership-focused approach to cross-department and cross-organisation collaboration.
