ABOUT FLINT

Flint is a leading global strategy consultancy. We are advisers to some of the largest corporates, financial institutions, and investors in Europe and the Asia-Pacific region. We work at the point where government and business meet, drawing on our blend of international expertise and experience to offer an authoritative perspective on both.

We work with organisations affected by political, policy, or regulatory change. Our clients are senior executives looking to improve the trajectory of their business, or to achieve commercial outcomes through policy or regulatory change. Flint helps them to drive their businesses forward.
We have offices in London, Brussels, Paris, Amsterdam, Hong Kong, Singapore and Melbourne as well as presence in a number of European capitals. We offer successful candidates the opportunity to advance within the company.

Flint takes care of its people. We enjoy challenging each other’s thinking and working hard on a wide variety of interesting and stimulating issues, while simultaneously respecting life outside Flint.
We are committed to equality of opportunity and encourage applications from candidates of all backgrounds.

THE ROLE

We are looking for an Associate Director or Manager to join our expanding infrastructure and energy team, leading the delivery of high-quality advice and analysis across a range of policy areas. Flint Associate Directors and Managers play a central role in our work — running project teams, contributing to client relationships, and supporting business development.

At a time of significant political and policy change, successful candidates will have a unique opportunity to support the continuing development of Flint’s business, and work on an exciting array of complex policy issues for our clients across energy and economic infrastructure sectors and markets (investors, operators and supply chains). You’ll help them understand and shape policy and regulatory changes that affect commercial strategy.

You will also play a hands‑on role in managing junior colleagues, sharing expertise, and supporting their development.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Project Delivery:
Lead day-to-day delivery of client work — providing clear, actionable advice informed by a strong understanding of political, policy and regulatory developments.
  • Client Management:
Support the management of client accounts/relationships, contribute to strategic advice, and help identify opportunities for further impact.
  • Policy and Political Analysis:
Apply deep knowledge of the policy making process, the commercial implications of regulation and the investment frameworks that apply to infrastructure assets.
  • Team Leadership:
Manage and support junior colleagues, delegate effectively, provide guidance and feedback, and help ensure high standards of analysis, policy advice and insight across teams.
  • Business Development: identify new opportunities with existing and prospective clients and contribute to proposals and thought leadership material.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR – SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

We are seeking candidates with 5+ years’ experience in public policy, regulation and/or infrastructure finance. This may include time in government, regulator, think tank, or in‑house policy or strategy team in an energy/infrastructure business or investor.

You should be able to demonstrate (‘essential criteria’):

  • A strong grasp of UK public policy related to energy and economic infrastructure, and a broader understanding of how politics, regulation and economics interact in shaping business decisions.
  • An understanding of the investment frameworks and private finance models that support infrastructure and energy assets.
  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to distil complex issues into clear, concise advice.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including with senior stakeholders and in writing for non‑specialist audiences.
  • Experience of managing project teams and supporting the development of others.
  • Personal drive, strong organisation, and the ability to manage competing priorities.
BENEFITS
  • Competitive salary and generous discretionary bonus
  • Private healthcare, life insurance and income protection schemes
  • Pension scheme with employer contribution
  • 25 days’ holiday plus bank holidays and additional days over Christmas
  • Enhanced family-friendly policies
  • Structured training and development
  • Regular staff social events
  • Cycle to work scheme and other benefits.

Candidates who are selected for interview will be asked to complete a written exercise as part of the process.

We will review applications as they arrive and may invite candidates to interview and potentially make appointments before the closing date.

Flint is licensed to sponsor international workers and welcomes UK and non-UK applicants for this London-based role.
