We are working closely with a local authority in Bromley to assist with the appointment of an Area Building Control Surveyor, on a 4‑month contract, highly likely to be extended at the client's discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
The Area Building Control Surveyor is responsible for delivering a professional and customer‑focused Building Control service in accordance with the Building Safety Act, Building Act, Building Regulations, London Building Acts, and associated legislation. As a Registered Building Inspector (RBI), the post holder will undertake restricted functions within the scope of their registration class and professional competence, ensuring that construction projects comply with statutory requirements relating to health, safety, accessibility, sustainability, structural integrity, and energy efficiency.
Responsibilities- Deliver Building Control functions in accordance with the Building Safety Act, Building Act, Building Regulations, London Building Acts, and associated legislation.
- Undertake restricted duties within the scope of the post holder's Registered Building Inspector registration and competence.
- Examine and assess Building Regulation applications, plans, specifications, calculations, and supporting documentation.
- Monitor works throughout the construction process to ensure compliance with approved plans and Building Regulations.
- Ensure inspections are undertaken efficiently and within service standards.
- Provide technical supervision and support to Registered Building Inspectors of lower registration classes, including Class 1 Inspectors.
- Ensure continuing professional development in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Degree, Higher National Diploma (HND), Higher National Certificate (HNC), or equivalent qualification in Building Control, Building Surveying, Construction, Structural Engineering, or a related built‑environment discipline.
- Registration as a Class 2F Registered Building Inspector (RBI) as a minimum requirement.
- Experience undertaking Building Control duties as a Registered Building Inspector.
- Experience carrying out both plan checking and site inspections across a variety of construction projects.
- Experience managing a caseload of Building Control applications from inception to completion.
