We are looking for an experienced and meticulous Site Manager to lead the on-site delivery of works to a Grade I listed building, one of the most architecturally significant properties in London. This role demands exceptional attention to detail and a deep respect for heritage fabric, working within a fast-paced, design-led environment where quality, precision, and discretion are paramount.

You'll work closely with specialist trades to oversee the day-to-day running of the site, ensuring works are delivered safely, to programme, and within budget.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee health and safety on site, ensuring compliance with CDM regulations and maintaining a safe working environment at all times

  • Monitoring and recording all permits to work for all trades. Must be able to inspect RAMS, safety harnesses, tag scaffolding etc.

  • Lead on emergency preparedness, including incident investigation, RIDDOR reporting where applicable, fire safety management, and site first-aid provision

  • Conduct site inductions and regular toolbox talks, ensuring all trades and subcontractors are briefed on site-specific hazards, including those associated with historic fabric (e.g. legacy materials such as asbestos or lead paint)

  • Review and enforce quality standards, particularly around traditional materials, methods, and craftsmanship

  • Maintain accurate site records, including diaries, RFIs, technical queries, and progress photographs

  • Chair or attend site meetings and provide clear, accurate reporting to senior stakeholders

  • Manage site logistics, deliveries, and welfare facilities within the constraints of a sensitive, restricted site

  • Manage the day-to-day running of the site, coordinating all trades, specialist contractors, and conservation specialists

  • Ensure works are carried out strictly in accordance with listed building consent, conservation method statements, and heritage officer requirements

  • Manage short-term programmes, tracking progress against schedule and reporting variances

Requirements
  • Relevant trade or construction-related qualification (e.g. HNC/HND, NVQ, or degree in Construction Management or related field)

  • NEBOSH, SMSTS and CSCS card (Black/Gold preferred) essential;
    First Aid at Work desirable

  • 5+ years' experience as a Site Manager, with proven experience working on listed buildings or heritage/conservation projects essential

  • Strong working knowledge of traditional construction methods and materials (lime mortar, timber repair, historic masonry, etc.)

  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills, with meticulous attention to detail

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the discretion required for working in private, high-profile environments

  • Calm, methodical approach, comfortable operating within the constraints of a sensitive and tightly controlled site

  • Right to work in the UK

Education
  • Bachelor's or equivalent trade qualification (preferred)
