Commercial Lead

London (Future frequent EU travel required)

We’re an International Engineering & Construction Contractor working on Hyperscale Data Centres across the EU. We are hiring a Commercial Lead to play a key role in the commercial success of major engineering and construction projects.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the commercial management of major projects from pre-contract through to final account
  • Support contract negotiation, contract administration and commercial risk management
  • Work closely with project managers, operational teams and senior leadership to protect project margin and drive commercial performance
  • Manage cost reporting, forecasting, change control, variations, claims and final accounts
  • Review and advise on contract terms, commercial obligations and project risk
  • Build strong working relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers and internal stakeholders
  • Support procurement and subcontractor commercial management
  • Provide commercial guidance to project teams and ensure best practice is followed
  • Identify opportunities to improve commercial processes, reporting and project controls
  • Represent the commercial function professionally across UK and future European projects
Qualifications
  • Proven experience as a Commercial Manager or Commercial Lead
  • HND or higher
  • Strong understanding of construction contracts, commercial governance and project financial control
  • Experience managing change, variations, claims and final accounts
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with confidence to work with clients, project teams and senior leadership
  • A proactive, hands‑on approach and the ability to make sound commercial decisions
  • Strong communication, negotiation and problem‑solving skills
  • Willingness to travel into Europe as the role develops
  • A degree or professional qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline would be advantageous
