We are looking for a social video producer (podcasts) to film, edit and produce engaging video and graphical content that will grow the audience for the award-winning Today in Focus podcast and other Guardian shows on our social media and video channels. You'll be covering a wide range of UK and international stories, producing videos on such things as housing, pop culture, elections, conflict, education, human rights, technology, and investigations.
This is a full-time 12-month fixed-term contract or internal staff secondment.
About the role- Work with producers, executive producers and hosts to generate ideas for how episodes can be presented and promoted on social channels
- Generate ideas for additional content that can be filmed and produced to engage social audiences
- Operate studio cameras and direct podcast video shoots
- Edit engaging social video content from our leading podcasts
- Working with podcast producers to brief guests and prepare them for filming episodes of Today in Focus
- Work closely with senior and executive producers to guarantee the highest levels of creativity, editorial and legal standards
- Explore new ways of connecting with audiences on social media, for example, through explainers, image carousels or behind the scenes content
- Assist with You Tube optimisation on all Today in Focus content - keywords, headlines, video descriptions, geolocating etc
- Assist with managing and responding to comments on You Tube and social channels
- Work with executive producers to provide data analysis on how You Tube and social content is performing.
- Experience of using video editing software, ideally Adobe Premiere
- Experience of shooting video in and outside of studio settings
- Experience of directing multi-camera video podcast shoots
- An understanding of design tools including Photoshop and Figma
- Understanding of You Tube channel management and search engine optimisation
- Insight into community engagement and audience data on You Tube and other social platforms
- Ability to interpret audience metrics to guide creative and strategic choices
- Awareness of how audiences dynamically discover and engage with social video
- Proven capacity to deliver high-quality outputs under strict, recurring deadlines
- Understanding of Guardian podcasts and what makes compelling episodes
- Knowledge and understanding of media law
- Active interest in UK and global current affairs
- Ideally, you'll have a demonstrable ability to bring a diverse perspective to this role

We operate in a hybrid environment working at least three days a week from our offices in King's Cross in London.

The salary for this NUJ position starts from £41,223, with a package commensurate with the skills, level of experience and responsibilities of the position.
