Parking Appeals Officer

Key Result Areas / Overview

Parking Appeals officers provide a responsive service to users of parking services. Responsibilities include handling correspondence, appeals, permits, telephone calls, income, refunds, complaints, courts and bailiffs. They represent the client at adjudication, attend seminars, working groups and functions, and report to the team leader with requirements for appropriate stock for all functions. Experience with in appeals is essential for the role.

  • Work within a team of officers providing the customer interface in parking services including correspondence, appeals, permits, telephone calls, income, invoicing, refunds, complaints, courts, bailiffs and data entry.
  • Represent the client at adjudication and other external functions such as benchmarking, working groups and seminars as appropriate.
  • Inform the team leader on cases, appeal win rates, problems with computerised systems, processes or procedures.
  • Hold Traffic and Parking Legislation knowledge and consider appeals following "representations" in line with legislation.
  • Make decisions on whether the appeal is accepted or rejected.
  • Suggest procedures to improve service delivery, customer focus and efficiency.
  • Assist the team leader with reconciling payments from internal and external sources, trace errors and resolve them.
  • Process payments received directly at the council.
  • Process refunds.
  • Provide the highest level of customer care as first point of contact for teams dealing with all aspects of parking, including complex and contentious cases.
Qualifications
  • Excellent communicator with previous Parking Appeals experience of 6 months or more.
  • Eye for detail and experience working with computerised systems.
Hours and Compensation

Work 36 hours per week, Monday to Friday, usually between the hours of 8am and 5pm or 9am and 6pm.

Pay between £26.83 an hour via umbrella.
