Clinical Teacher

The posts would be ideally suited to an experienced or a specialist dental practitioner with an interest in the education of dental students. A major aspect of the posts is to provide clinical teaching and support for the training of BDS undergraduates (and DCP students). Clinical teachers will also be expected to deliver seminars and possibly lectures, assess students and provide feedback on their performance.

Support will be provided if needed. The post is based at our Denmark Hill campus. Applicants should be experienced and fully GDC Registered Dentists. An appropriate honorary clinical contract will be requested from the appropriate NHS Trust and the successful applicant will be expected to take part in all aspects of clinical governance activities Applicants from a general practice environment are encouraged and the faculty also values postgraduate qualifications, employing specialist clinical teachers in a range of specialities.

This part-time Clinical Teacher post offers an opportunity to contribute to undergraduate teaching in Oral Surgery at King's College London. The post holder will provide clinical supervision and support student learning through tutorials, assessment and direct feedback. Teaching may also include seminars, lectures, clinical skills teaching and clinical teaching with patients. The successful candidate will be responsible for the teaching, assessment, feedback, monitoring and progress of undergraduate and dental care professional students under nominated supervision, in clinical practice relevant to the department.

They will undertake teaching as directed by the Head of Department or team and participate in clinical and other service activities when requested by the Head of Department or an approved individual. Support is provided, and applicants from a general practice environment are encouraged. The department also values postgraduate qualifications and employs specialist clinical teachers in Oral Surgery. The post holder may be asked to work at any King's College London Dental Institute site.

This is a part time post (8 hours per week), and you will be offered an indefinite contract. The selection process will include a panel interview.

• Full registration with the relevant professional body and a valid licence to practise. For this dental role, applicants should be fully GDC registered.
• FDS, MFDS, MJDF or equivalent.
• Demonstrable experience in Oral Surgery following qualification.
• An enthusiastic approach to teaching, with good communication skills.
• Ability to supervise undergraduate students.
• Participation in clinical audit projects.
• Regular attendance, good timekeeping and willingness to be flexible about working times.

• Certificate in teaching.
• Sedation qualification.
• Experience of working in an Oral Surgery department or equivalent.
