Aston Education is working with an Ofsted Good 11-18 oversubscribed secondary school in Lewisham, Southeast London (inner London), looking for a permanent Head of English to lead a strong English department.

Successful applicants will hold QTS/QTLS and possess strategic oversight of KS3, KS4 and KS5 English, with the ability to teach all key stages. Understanding of what makes excellent quality of education within English, leadership with compassion and structure are essential.

• Strong understanding of language and literature
• Promotion of a positive school culture and development of well‑rounded individuals
• Ability to set a level of challenge for all abilities across all key stages within lessons and extracurricular activities
• Experience or keen interest in Gifted & Talented, SEN and Assessment for Learning initiatives

Provide strategic oversight of the English department across KS3, KS4 and KS5, lead curriculum design and assessment, support teachers in delivering high quality lessons and foster an inclusive learning environment.
