We are seeking an experienced Behaviour Mentor / Primary SEMH Teaching Assistant to join our team on a permanent, full-time, term-time only basis starting January 2026. This role is ideal for a confident, reliable and resilient professional with strong behaviour management skills and experience supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
Role Overview- Deliver targeted 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEMH needs
- Support pupils to regulate their behaviour, build resilience and engage fully in learning
- Implement behaviour plans and de-escalation strategies
- Work closely with class teachers, the SENCO and wider support staff
- Maintain a calm, structured, and nurturing classroom environment
- Encourage independence, emotional development and social skills
- Have proven experience in UK schools, ideally supporting SEMH pupils
- Have strong and consistent behaviour management skills
- Are calm, firm, and empathetic when working with challenging behaviours
- Are reliable, professional and committed to making a positive difference
- Can build strong, supportive relationships with pupils and colleagues
- Hold an enhanced DBS (or are willing to obtain one)
- Permanent, full-time role with term-time working
