SEN PMLD Classroom Teacher
Salary:
Inner London Main Scale / Upper Pay Scale + 1 SEN Point
Start Date:
April 2026 (Summer Term 2026)
An established community-maintained special school in Inner London is seeking to appoint a SEN PMLD classroom teacher from April 2026.
The setting supports pupils aged 4-19 with complex learning needs within a single-site provision. Learners follow a range of curriculum pathways across Early Years, Primary, Secondary and Post-16, enabling continuity, shared expertise, and close collaboration between phases.
The Role
The successful candidate will take responsibility for a class of pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), working closely with a skilled team of support staff and specialist professionals to deliver highly personalised, inclusive learning experiences.
Requirements
Experience working with pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties and Multi-Sensory Impairments
Understanding of cognition and learning for pupils with PMLD
Knowledge of personalised communication approaches, such as Makaton and PECS
Willingness to engage in ongoing professional development (training is available within the team)

Essential Criteria
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Commitment to inclusive, nurturing and inspiring practice
Passion for creating positive and responsive learning environments
Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, families, and external specialists
Knowledge and understanding of special educational needs gained through classroom experience
