School Librarian – Temporary Assignment

Monday to Friday, 08:00 – 16:00 (30-minute lunch break)

Principal Education is currently recruiting on behalf of a school in E8 for an experienced School Librarian to start immediately on a short-term temporary assignment.

Role Overview

The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the school library, supporting students and staff and maintaining a safe, calm, and organised learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee daily library operations, including book loans and returns

Support students with reading and research activities

Maintain an organised and welcoming library space

Manage library resources and records

Promote positive behaviour and independent learning

Work in line with safeguarding, health & safety, and school policies

Requirements

Previous experience working in a school (essential)

Experience in a library or similar educational support role

Strong organisational and communication skills

Ability to manage students effectively

Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
