Position: Education Academy Fellow (eqv to ST1) in GEP | Barts Health NHS Trust

Overview

The post will have opportunities to be involved in other teaching programmes including Foundation Trainees and interdisciplinary simulation training.

The Education Academy within Barts Health is expanding in response to the need with increasing numbers of students and trainees and commitment to offer the best educational experience for our trainees. There is a real need to ensure that students receive excellent educational opportunities, including access to emerging digital technologies.

Role Details

The post holder will have the opportunity to work across sites with other education fellows. All fellows joining our team will be invited to join our Education Forum where fellows have access to a structured development programme. All our fellows are encouraged to undertake a PG Cert in Education. For those who already have this there will be an opportunity to undertake ILM3 (Leadership & Management Course).

Funding will be available towards supporting this.

The contract is 12‑month, fixed‑term and is full time, 0.4 WTE within Education and 0.6 WTE clinical work relevant speciality. The educational time will be divided between the Graduate Programme Education Delivery and supporting other specialities and disciplines within other areas of Education such as simulation and clinical skills.

The post holder would be responsible for their own personal development plan, with regards to both service and educational work. Regular appraisal must be undertaken with their clinical supervisor, and the Associate Dean for Undergraduates.

The post holder will work closely with the Associate Director of Simulation to identify Educational Deliverables.

Responsibilities

Deliver teaching and simulation sessions for Foundation trainees and other education programmes.

Co‑operate with the Education Forum and pursue professional development opportunities such as PG Cert in Education and ILM

Maintain appraisal and development planning in collaboration with clinical and educational supervisors.

Requirements

At least two years of accredited Foundation Programme Training and be on track to pass ARCP.

Previous experience in delivering education.

Commitment to engaging in education across multiple sites and specialities.

Contract & Compensation

The contract is 12‑month, fixed‑term. 40% of the time will be dedicated to Education Delivery, 60% within the chosen Clinical Speciality. This is a 40‑hour week contract with the aim of minimal on‑calls, nights or weekends as part of this post. Banding 1A on MN37 pay scale.

The post is covered by the Terms and Conditions of Service of Hospital Medical and Dental Staff (England and Wales), as amended from time to time.
