Curriculum Manager – Foundation Learning

The Curriculum Manager in Foundation learning is responsible for the strategic development, organisation and management of specialist SEND provision for learners aged 16-25. The postholder will ensure programmes are designed, delivered and continuously improved in partnership with stakeholders to meet learner needs, local priorities and progression outcomes. You will ensure learners benefit from personalised teaching, learning and support that enables them to develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed for independence, further learning, supported internships and employment.

Working closely with the Head of Faculty, you will contribute to business planning, manage staffing and resources effectively, and ensure provision meets or exceeds College Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). You will lead and line manage staff, promote high professional standards, and drive continuous improvement in teaching, learning and assessment.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage SEND and Foundation Learning programmes to ensure high-quality provision and strong learner outcomes.
  • Design, develop and review curriculum in partnership with stakeholders to meet EHCP outcomes, local priorities and progression pathways.
  • Line manage teaching staff and job coaches, setting high expectations and supporting performance and professional development.
  • Monitor and drive improvement in recruitment, retention, achievement, attendance and progression against College KPIs.
  • Ensure excellence in teaching, learning and assessment, including internal verification and awarding body compliance.
  • Oversee learner progress, behaviour and safeguarding, implementing timely interventions for at-risk learners.
  • Maintain strong partnerships with local authorities, employers, parents/carers and external agencies.
  • Contribute to self‑assessment, quality improvement planning and continuous improvement across the faculty.
  • Manage curriculum resources, staffing and timetabling effectively to ensure value for money and high standards.
Qualifications
  • Qualified teacher with experience delivering and leading provision for learners with SEND or Foundation Learning.
  • Experience managing staff or leading teams.
  • Proven ability to improve learner outcomes through high-quality teaching, inclusive practice and effective curriculum design.
  • Experience supporting learners with EHCPs and managing complex behaviours.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate staff and drive performance improvements.
  • Confident using data and KPIs to monitor progress and implement timely interventions.
  • Committed to safeguarding, equality, inclusion and supporting learners to achieve independence and positive progression.
