Location: City Of London

Minibus Driver - Ongoing Temporary Contract - 10 to 15 hours per month - Broxbourne Campus and Offsite - £16.38 per hour

Herts Resourcing Group is working in partnership with Hertford Regional College to recruit a responsible and reliable Minibus Driver to support the safe transportation of learners to scheduled away sporting fixtures.

About

The Role

This role plays an important part in supporting student enrichment activities and ensuring learners can safely participate in off-site sporting events.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safely transporting College students to and from football away fixtures, in accordance with road traffic law and College procedures
  • Ensuring the safety and welfare of learners at all times while in transit
  • Conducting and recording pre- and post-journey vehicle safety checks
  • Ensuring the minibus is kept clean, secure and roadworthy
  • Reporting any defects, incidents or concerns promptly in line with College procedures
  • Adhering to College safeguarding, health and safety, and driver conduct policies
  • Driving in a professional, courteous manner, representing Hertford Regional College positively at all times
  • Following planned routes and schedules, with flexibility where required due to traffic or venue changes
  • Liaising appropriately with College staff during journeys and at venues

This role is subject to legal and insurance requirements, which are essential and non-negotiable.

Training & Compliance
  • A Herts Certificate of Competence for minibus driving must be completed before any learners can be carried
  • This training will be arranged by the College, in liaison with the successful candidate

Hours:

Approximately 10-15 hours per month

Pattern:
Driving College students to Football Away Matches

Frequency:
Around 2 sessions per month

Contract Period:
September 2026 to March 2027 and possibly beyond

About You

This role is ideal for someone seeking occasional, planned hours during the academic year.

The successful candidate will ideally demonstrate:

  • Good geographical knowledge of the local area
  • Competence in undertaking daily vehicle safety checks and basic vehicle maintenance
  • A calm, responsible and professional approach to driving
  • Strong time management and reliability
  • An understanding of, or willingness to follow, safeguarding procedures within an educational environment
Age & Driving Experience (Essential)

Drivers of minibuses must, by law, be over 21 years of age. However, due to College insurance requirements, applicants must:

  • Be a minimum of 25 years of age, and
  • Have at least 2 years' driving experience

Only applicants who meet these criteria can be considered.

Licence Requirements (Essential)

Applicants must hold a current, clean and valid driving licence, with either:

  • D1 unrestricted, or
  • D1 restricted (car licence obtained prior to 01 January 1997)

  • In person  Proof of Address verification appointment at Ware/Broxbourne Campus
  • Enhanced DBS application - administrated by HRG but at a cost of £65.20 (unless you already hold an enhanced DBS on the update service)
  • 2 years of professional/character references taken and verified
  • Several online training modules to complete as stipulated by HRC
