Head of Design Technology and Engineering

Outer London £37,870 - £56,154 per annum (M1-UPS3) plus TLR 2b September 2026 Start

Are you an ambitious and inspirational teacher with a passion for Design Technology and Engineering? Do you have the vision and leadership skills to drive excellence across a thriving department?

We are seeking to appoint an outstanding Head of Design Technology and Engineering to lead a successful and growing department within a high-performing secondary school. This is an exciting opportunity for a talented practitioner and aspiring or experienced middle leader to shape the future of Design Technology and Engineering education for students across Key Stages 3-5.

The department offers a broad and engaging curriculum, including Design Technology, 3D Design at A Level, and a recently introduced Engineering GCSE. Students are enthusiastic about the subject, and the department has a strong culture of collaboration, innovation, and professional development.

Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic leadership and direction for Design Technology and Engineering.
  • Drive high standards of teaching, learning, and student achievement.
  • Lead curriculum development across KS3-KS5.
  • Support, coach, and develop colleagues within the department.
  • Use assessment and performance data to inform planning and raise outcomes.
  • Develop opportunities for students to engage with industry and real-world applications of design and engineering.
