Overview
The Education Academy within Barts Health is expanding in response to increasing numbers of students and trainees and our commitment to offer the best educational experience for our trainees. The role is part of an initiative to build an Education Fellow faculty base made up of Specialty Teaching Fellows who contribute to both undergraduate and postgraduate training and support inter‑professional innovations.
RoleSummary
The post holder will work across Barts Health Simulation Service sites with other education fellows. We are recruiting a FY3 to St3 level candidate for a 1.0 full‑time equivalent (WTE) post, with 0.4 WTE spent at the Royal London Hospital (RLH) Simulation Centre developing and delivering educational activities to postgraduate medical trainees through clinical skills, full‑immersion simulation and haptics‑based simulation. The position also allows involvement in undergraduate medical trainees, Foundation trainees, and interdisciplinary simulation training.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and deliver a wide range of educational activities to postgraduate medical trainees, including clinical skills, full immersion simulation, and haptics‑based simulation.
- Collaborate with other education fellows across sites to design and deliver integrated teaching programmes.
- Contribute to undergraduate medical trainees, Foundation trainees, and interdisciplinary simulation training programmes.
- Participate in the Education Forum and a structured development programme.
- Maintain a personal development plan with the clinical supervisor and Simulation Lead Specialist.
- Work closely with the Associate Director of Simulation to identify and implement educational deliverables.
- Support ongoing professional development, including pursuing a PG Cert in Education and, for those who already hold it, an ILM3 Leadership & Management Course, with funding available.
- FY3 to St3 level within NHS medicine.
- Experience in simulation or clinical skills education preferred.
- Strong commitment to teaching excellence and continuous improvement.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Funding to support the PG Cert in Education and the ILM3 Leadership course.
- Structured development programme and access to an experienced education network.
