About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full‑time Special Educational Needs (SEND) Keyworker in Pupil Services. The role involves supporting children and young people aged 0‑25 years with a SEND who are applying for or have an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and supporting their families. You will be part of the 0‑25 SEND structure, advising parents, coordinating with mainstream and specialist schools, and ensuring the EHCP is properly assessed, written and reviewed in accordance with the Children and Families Act 2014 and SEND Code of Practice.
Responsibilities- Coordinate EHC needs assessment processes for children and young people with complex needs and their annual reviews.
- Produce and co‑design Education Health and Care (EHC) plans, ensuring statutory time frames and compliance with the SEND Code of Practice.
- Act as the single point of regular and consistent contact for children, young people and their families, providing information on education options and signposting to additional support.
- Support families through assessment and planning processes, empowering them to make informed decisions about suitable school placements.
- Coordinate multiple services, practitioners and agencies, organising and leading Team Around the Child/Family meetings.
- Take part in the Phase Transfer process for Year 6 students entering Year 7 with EHCPs.
- Develop and maintain partnerships with mainstream and specialist schools and partner agencies to deliver appropriate provision for children and young people.
- Engage with Education, Health, Social Care and Voluntary Sector agencies.
- Contribute to the Department for Education’s change programme to test and refine national SEND and AP reforms.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience working within an education or care environment (preferred).

- Up to 31 days leave per year, increasing to 36 days after five years of local government service.
