About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a welcoming primary school in Lambeth. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a specialist Autism (ASC) base, supporting pupils with a range of complex needs.

The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering PPA (Planning, Preparation & Assessment) cover across the base, ensuring high-quality teaching and consistent learning opportunities for pupils with Autism.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver planned lessons to small groups and whole classes within the SEN Autism base during PPA cover
  • Support pupils with Autism, adapting learning to meet individual needs
  • Work closely with class teachers, SENCO, and therapists to implement EHCP targets
  • Manage behaviour positively using structured approaches and routines
  • Create a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment
  • Monitor and record pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
  • HLTA qualification or equivalent experience
  • Proven experience working in a primary school setting, ideally with SEN/Autism
  • Strong understanding of Autism Spectrum Condition and associated needs
  • Confidence leading groups and delivering lessons independently
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • A patient, flexible, and proactive approach
