Job Overview
The Commercial Industries and Access School at Kingston College is seeking a Vocational Skills Assessor to facilitate the effective and efficient practical and online assessment of learners as well as the development of their commercial, employability and enterprise skills.
Responsibilities- Facilitate practical and online assessment of learners across programmes including Level 1, 2 and 3 hairdressing and/or barbering and Customer Service, providing prompt and constructive feedback after each assessment.
- Assess learners in the College salons and other practical areas, ensuring a professional image and maintaining a safe and secure environment.
- Support teaching teams and learners in reception, salon and practical areas, assisting learners to work professionally and develop commercial and employability skills.
- Manage reception duties: daily cashing up, managing client bookings, increasing client numbers and meeting weekly income targets, promoting retail sales, campaigns and displays.
- Maintain a strong client base in the commercial salons to ensure income targets are met.
- Work across sections within the School; the role may involve evenings and Saturdays.
- Hold a Level 3 qualification in hairdressing and/or barbering.
- Demonstrate recent industrial experience and possess excellent demonstrator skills in hairdressing.
- Hold an assessing qualification or be willing to work towards one.
- Be aware of academic quality standards.
- Exhibit energy, enthusiasm, passion for the subject and education; be able to support, motivate and empathise with young learners and monitor their progress.

Salary: £19.21 – £20.96 per hour (including holiday pay)
