We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Ilford (IG2). This role will involve providing 1:1 support for a pupil with Special Educational Needs (SEN), with a particular focus on supporting children with Autism and complex needs. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about making a meaningful difference in a child's education, well-being and development.
Key Responsibilities- Provide 1:1 support for a pupil with Autism and complex learning needs
- Support the child's academic, social and emotional development
- Implement strategies from EHCPs (Education, Health and Care Plans)
- Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to adapt learning activities
- Use a calm, patient and structured approach to support engagement and behaviour
- Build a positive and trusting relationship with the pupil
- Experience working with children with Autism and/or complex needs
- A strong understanding of SEN support strategies (e.g. visual timetables, sensory support, structured routines)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A calm, patient and empathetic approach
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team
- A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
- Relevant qualifications (e.g. CACHE Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant)
- Previous experience in a primary school setting
- Training in areas such as Team Teach, PECS, Makaton or sensory strategies
