Overview

Learning Support Assistant – St John Bosco College

Actual Salary: £26,023 (pro rata to fte £31,086). Scale 3 - Point 5. 34 hours per week (negotiable). Term time only (39 weeks per annum). Monday to Friday.

Role purpose

To support students with special educational needs (SEN) across the school, including 1:1 and small-group work in mainstream classrooms, developing independent learning, social and emotional regulation skills, and contributing to an inclusive school environment.

Responsibilities
  • Support students with SEN across the school in the mainstream classroom on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
  • Develop students' literacy and communication skills.
  • Foster independent learning, social and emotional regulation skills.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to implement Individual Education Plan (IEP) strategies and adapt activities as needed.
Qualifications and requirements
  • Good interpersonal skills and experience supporting young people with Autism.
  • Previous experience of supporting secondary-aged students with SEN needs is desirable but not essential.
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills; reliable, committed; strong communication skills; calm, patient and empathetic nature.
