Lecturer - English

Based across our accessible campuses, including Rush Green, Barking & Dagenham College prepares young people and adults with the essential skills they need to progress into employment, apprenticeships or further study. Our Maths and English provision plays a critical role in that journey. As an English Lecturer, you'll play a key role in delivering high‑quality teaching that engages, challenges and supports learners from Entry Level to Level 2/3.

• Plan and deliver engaging, well‑structured lessons from Entry Level to Level 2/3.
• Design and implement learner‑centred assessment with clear, developmental feedback.
• Monitor and support learner attendance, progress and achievement.
• Provide personal coaching and pastoral support to designated learners.
• Contribute to a safe, inclusive learning environment and ensure health and safety standards are met.
• Keep subject knowledge current to ensure teaching remains relevant and employability‑focused.
• Actively engage in professional development and quality improvement activity.

• Recognised teaching qualification.
• Recent, successful experience teaching Functional Skills and/or English from Entry Level to Level 2/3, preferably in Further Education.
• Strong track record of effective assessment and learner achievement.
• Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills, with the ability to support colleagues and contribute to shared goals.
• Strong administrative skills, including accurate tracking of learner data.
