Role Overview

As the Post-16 provisions continue to develop, we are looking for an enthusiastic, flexible and dynamic teacher to plan and deliver across a range of subjects. Working predominantly with students on the Growth in Occupation, Ambition in Life Skills (GOALS) provision, the teacher will be part of a small, transdisciplinary team building a curriculum that responds to the therapeutic needs of the cohort.

The curriculum is therapy-led, dynamically planned and underpinned by the Life & Living Skills Entry Level qualification. Sessions may be based onsite or involve travelling offsite with students, and may include Literacy & Communication, Numeracy, ICT, PSHE, Art & Design, active sessions, volunteering, leisure activities and more. The teaching timetable of the successful applicant may also include lessons for students on the Employability and College Link provisions.

Responsibilities
  • Support students' learning in school sessions
  • Meet with students on a 1:1 basis
  • Communicate with the wider staff team at Blossom House as and when required
  • Build positive working relationships with the transdisciplinary team in Post 16
  • Travel offsite with groups of students as required

Supporting our students can sometimes be challenging; mental and physical resilience are qualities necessary for all our staff.

Qualifications & Skills
  • Confidence, enthusiasm and a passion for helping students
  • Excellent English skills (clear written and spoken English) along with good reading, writing and numeracy skills
  • Ability to build good working relationships proactively and confidently with children, teachers, parents and carers
  • Experience of working with children and young people with Special Education Needs (SEN), particularly children with SLCN
  • Proven ability to cope with challenging behaviour (desirable)
  • Ability to manage workloads with independence
  • Ability to promote positive behaviour in a nurturing environment (essential)
  • Ability to support students in a wide range of subjects
  • Good administrative and organisational skills
  • Emotional Resilience and ability to identify opportunities to prevent issues from escalating by involving the necessary team members and implementing appropriate action plans in a timely manner
