A friendly and inclusive primary school in Clapham, Lambeth (SW4) is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a KS1 pupil with Autism (ASC) from September 2026. This role would suit an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant who has a strong academic background and a passion for supporting children with additional needs. The successful candidate will play a key role in helping the child access learning, develop confidence, and achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with Autism within a KS1 classroom.
  • Support the child's academic, social, and emotional development.
  • Deliver targeted interventions and adapt learning activities to meet individual needs.
  • Support literacy development through effective use of phonics programmes and early reading strategies.
  • Promote engagement, independence, and positive behaviour.
  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, parents, and external professionals.
Requirements
  • Previous experience supporting children with Autism (ASC) on a 1:1 basis.
  • Strong understanding and experience of phonics and early literacy development.
  • Strong academic background with excellent literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Patient, proactive, and nurturing approach.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Experience working in a primary school setting is essential.
