About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming three-form entry mainstream primary school in Brent.

This is a full-time 1:1 support role, working closely with a pupil with Special Educational Needs (SEN). You will play a vital role in supporting the pupil's academic progress, emotional wellbeing, and social development, helping them to access the curriculum and engage confidently in school life.

Working alongside the class teacher and SENCo, you will deliver personalised support, implement agreed strategies, and encourage the pupil's independence while creating a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with Special Educational Needs.
  • Support the pupil in accessing learning activities and participating fully in lessons.
  • Adapt resources and teaching approaches to meet individual learning needs.
  • Promote positive behaviour, confidence, and independence.
  • Support communication, emotional regulation, and social interaction.
  • Work collaboratively with the class teacher, SENCo, and external professionals where appropriate.
  • Monitor progress and provide regular feedback to the class teacher and SENCo.
  • Help maintain a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Previous experience supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs in a primary school is essential.
  • Experience working in a 1:1 Teaching Assistant role.
  • A patient, caring, and proactive approach.
  • Strong communication and behaviour management skills.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and colleagues.
  • An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or be willing to obtain one).
  • A relevant Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable but not essential.

We Offer

  • A supportive and welcoming three-form entry mainstream primary school.
  • A collaborative and experienced leadership and SEN team.
  • Ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
  • A rewarding role where you can make a real difference to a child's learning and development.
  • A positive, inclusive, and friendly working environment.
