SEMH Learning Mentor / Behaviour Support Practitioner

Remedy Education are seeking an experienced SEMH Learning Mentor / Behaviour Support Practitioner to provide dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 10 student based in Greenwich.

This is a highly rewarding role for someone with strong experience supporting young people with complex social, emotional and mental health needs. The student requires consistent, calm and structured support from someone who can build trust, manage challenging behaviour and use trauma-informed approaches to help them access learning safely.

The Role
  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 10 student with complex SEMH needs
  • Support emotional regulation, behaviour, engagement and access to learning
  • Use trauma-informed practice to build trust and provide consistent support
  • Apply de-escalation strategies and restorative approaches when needed
  • Maintain clear professional boundaries while developing a positive working relationship
  • Support the student with routines, expectations and safe learning behaviours
  • Work closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams, SENCOs and external professionals
  • Help reduce barriers to learning and encourage positive progress
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
  • Substantial experience supporting young people with SEMH needs
  • Experience with trauma, emotional dysregulation and challenging behaviour
  • Strong understanding of contextual safeguarding risks
  • Confidence using trauma-informed practice and de-escalation strategies
  • Experience using restorative approaches and emotional regulation techniques
  • A calm, resilient and consistent approach
  • Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills
  • Experience with in SEMH schools, Alternative Provision, PRUs, youth justice or residential care is highly desirable
  • An Enhanced DBS on the updated service or willingness to apply for one
