Location:

Lambeth, South London. Salary: £109 per day. Start:
September 2026. Weekly pay.

Contract:

Full-Time | Term-Time Only.

A friendly and inclusive primary school in Lambeth is looking to appoint a dedicated Year 1 SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2026.

This rewarding role involves supporting a pupil within a Year 1 class, helping them access learning, develop confidence, and thrive both academically and socially. The school is seeking an individual who is patient, caring, and passionate about making a meaningful difference in a child's educational journey.

The Role

As a Year 1 SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to provide tailored support for a pupil with additional learning needs. You will help create a positive and engaging learning environment that enables the pupil to reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil in Year 1 with special educational needs.
  • Adapt learning activities to meet the pupil's individual needs.
  • Support the development of communication, social, and emotional skills.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and engagement in lessons.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SEN staff, and parents to support pupil progress.
  • Assist with the implementation of individual support plans and targeted interventions.
  • Promote independence and confidence throughout the school day.
Requirements
  • Previous experience working with children in a school, nursery, care, or support setting.
  • An understanding of, or interest in, supporting children with special educational needs.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • A patient, nurturing, and resilient approach.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a supportive team.
