SEN Specialist Teaching Assistant South East London Specialist School September 2026 Start 95 - 120 per day (dependent on experience) Full Time Temporary

Are you an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant looking to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and young people with additional needs?

Apex Educ8 is recruiting on behalf of a welcoming specialist school in South East London for a dedicated SEN Specialist Teaching Assistant to join their team from September. This is an excellent opportunity to support pupils with a range of additional needs within a nurturing and inclusive learning environment.

The Role

You’ll work closely with teachers and the wider support team to help pupils access learning, develop independence and achieve their individual educational and personal goals.

Responsibilities
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils with Special Educational Needs.
  • Adapt learning activities to meet individual pupil needs.
  • Support pupils with communication, emotional regulation and social development.
  • Promote independence and confidence within the classroom.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and parents/carers.
  • Contribute to pupil progress reviews and EHCP outcomes where appropriate.
  • Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing.
  • Maintain high standards of safeguarding and professional practice.

Essential Requirements
  • Previous experience supporting children or young people with Special Educational Needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A calm, patient and adaptable approach.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • A genuine passion for inclusive education.
Desirable Experience

Experience supporting pupils with:

  • Autism (ASC)
  • ADHD
  • SEMH
  • Speech, Language and Communication Needs
  • Moderate or Severe Learning Difficulties (MLD/SLD)
  • Complex Needs

Experience with in specialist schools, resource provisions or mainstream SEN settings would be highly advantageous.
