Location: Euston

Birkbeck, University of London, is seeking a part-time Lecturer (Teaching and Education) to act as Deputy Lead of the Foundation Year. You will work closely with Dr Laura Green (Foundation Year Lead) on curriculum design and development and the delivery of teaching and engagement activities at foundation level. The postholder will deputise for the Foundation Lead and support her in reviewing and evaluating Birkbeck's foundation year provision with the aim of innovating and enhancing the student experience and improving student outcomes.

The postholder will undertake:

  • A deputy leadership role for two large cross-college Level 3 foundation year modules (Fundamentals of Study and Breaking Boundaries of Knowledge) There are over 500 students on the foundation year annually.
  • A cross-college deputy leadership role focused on enhancing the foundation year teaching and learning experience and building strong collaborative relationships with colleagues in faculties, schools and partner institutions.
  • A strategic role in supporting outreach, recruitment, orientation and student retention activities for Birkbeck.
Contract

This role is being offered on a fixed-term basis for two years - part-time, 17.5 hours a week with flexible and hybrid working.

£22,123 rising to £30,429 per annum (Pro-rated £44,247 rising to £60,858), Grade LLEC, is on the College's London Pay Scale which includes a consolidated Weighting/Allowance which applies only to staff whose normal contractual place of work is in the London area.
