The role
David Game College seeks a committed part-time History Teacher to deliver GCSE and A-Level courses. The successful candidate will prepare and implement a full educational teaching plan in line with the school’s requirements, providing knowledge and instruction while supporting students’ personal and academic development.
The post is fixed-term and term-time only, commencing 7 September 2026 and concluding 26 June 2027. Attendance at the inset day on 2 September 2026 is required.
Key responsibilities- Teach lessons in a comprehensive manner and use visual and audio resources to facilitate learning.
- Provide individualised instruction to each student through interactive learning approaches.
- Create and distribute educational content including notes, summaries and assignments.
- Assess and record students’ progress, providing grades and constructive feedback.
- Maintain a tidy and orderly classroom environment.
- Collaborate with senior teachers, administrators and other stakeholders, participating in regular meetings.
- Plan and execute educational in-class events.
- Observe and understand students’ behaviour, reporting any suspicions of neglect or abuse.
- Develop and enrich professional skills and knowledge through seminars, conferences and training.
- Maintain accurate teaching and learning documentation.
- Proven experience as a teacher.
- Thorough knowledge of teaching best practices and legal educational guidelines, with a willingness to follow school policies and procedures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Well-organised and committed approach to work.
- Creative and energetic teaching style.
- Degree in the relevant field of study.
- Formal teacher training such as AET, DET or PGCE (desirable).
- Membership of the Society for Education and Training (desirable).
- QTLS, QTS, ATS or Chartered Teacher Status (desirable).
- Salary of £40.00–£45.00 per hour, inclusive of annual holiday entitlement and pay, dependent on experience, qualifications and subject level delivered.
- Auto-enrolment pension scheme with Royal London Workplace Pension (4% employer contribution and 4% employee contribution).
- Up to 10 hours per week on a fixed-term, term-time-only contract.
