Reeson Education are currently recruiting for an experienced SEN Teacher to join a well-regarded special needs school in Harrow. This is a full-time, temp-to-perm SEN Teacher position starting in September.
The school provides specialist education for young people with additional learning needs, with a strong focus on life skills, communication, functional learning and preparation for adulthood.
About the SEN Teacher roleAs an SEN Teacher in Harrow, you will plan and deliver engaging lessons designed around the needs and learning goals of students within the school's Post 16 provision.
- Planning and delivering structured lessons
- Developing programmes focused on life skills and preparation for adulthood
- Teaching functional English and Maths
- Supporting communication and social development
- Creating suitable learning activities for students with a range of SEN
- Monitoring student progress and adapting teaching approaches
- Working with teaching assistants and other school staff
- Contributing to assessment and individual learning targets
- Supporting students to develop skills for further education, employment and community participation
This is a specialist SEN school in Harrow with a dedicated Post 16 provision. The school places a strong emphasis on helping young people develop the practical skills required for life beyond education.
The SEN Teacher in Harrow will join an established team working across classroom-based learning, practical activities and community-based opportunities.
The school offers a structured environment with a clear focus on student progress and preparation for adulthood.
What we are looking for- QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification
- Previous experience teaching students with SEN
- Experience working with students with additional learning needs
- Good classroom management skills
- The ability to adapt lessons to different learning needs
- Strong knowledge of assessment and lesson planning
- An interest in functional learning and life skills
- Good communication and organisational skills
- A consistent approach to classroom routines and expectations
Experience working with students with ASD, MLD, SLD or complex learning needs would be beneficial.
