Special Needs Teaching Assistant
Location:
Dulwich
Contract:
Full-time and flexible cover roles available
Hours:
8:30am – 4:00pm, Monday to Friday
Pay: £103 – £115 per day (Umbrella)
About the RolePhilosophy Education is currently recruiting Special Needs Teaching Assistants to work full-time in one of our Secondary Schools in Dulwich. These schools cater for children and young people with a range of learning and developmental needs, including Visual Impairments, Autism, Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
Key Responsibilities- Support pupils with visual, physical, and communication needs during classroom and sensory-based learning.
- Provide personal care, including feeding and mobility support, where required.
- Use clear and adaptable communication methods to meet the individual needs of pupils.
- Assist students with emotional regulation and behaviour management, using positive and consistent strategies.
- Encourage confidence, independence, and social interaction among pupils.
- Work collaboratively with teachers and therapy teams to deliver individual learning plans.
- Experienced Teaching Assistants seeking a SEND-focused role
- Healthcare, social care, or youth support workers with transferable skills
- Individuals with a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
- A caring, patient, and professional approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- A genuine desire to make a difference in the lives of children with additional needs
- An Enhanced DBS certificate (or willingness to obtain one)
- Two professional references covering the past two years
- Access to ongoing professional training in SEND, behaviour management, and classroom support
