Head of Keyboard

The Head of Keyboard will provide leadership and direction for keyboard teaching across the School, delivering high-quality individual piano tuition while supporting and managing a team of Visiting Music Teachers. The role will oversee pupil progress, examinations and performance opportunities, including concerts, auditions and School events, while ensuring pupils are encouraged to participate fully in the wider musical life of the School.

Working closely with the Director of Music and the wider Music Department, the successful candidate will promote excellence and participation in keyboard music through inspiring teaching, ensemble opportunities, masterclasses and outreach activities. They will also develop relationships with external professionals and feeder schools, support the identification of prospective music scholars, and oversee the tuning, maintenance and appropriate allocation of the School's pianos.

Salary:
Point 35-38 on the John Whitgift Foundation Support Staff Salary Scale. The full-time salary will be between £54,364 gross pay per annum (at Point 35) to £58,360 gross pay per annum (at Point 38) depending on qualifications and relevant experience. The Pro-rata salary range for this post will be £26,095 gross pay per annum to £28,013 gross pay per annum to reflect Term Time and 0.48 FTE contract.
