KS5 Science Lead Teacher

Within the science team at Ark Bolingbroke Academy, this permanent post leads Key Stage 5 teaching and learning for A-Level and BTEC students, reporting to the Head of Science. The work centres on setting standards across the wider science teaching team, with responsibility for long-term planning, lesson preparation and accountability for student progress. A teaching and learning responsibility allowance is attached, and experience of coordinating BTEC provision is an advantage.

• Lead Key Stage 5 science teaching and learning for A-Level and BTEC learners
• Drive standards across the wider teaching team
• Ensure long-term planning for science courses
• Ensure individual lesson preparation
• Take responsibility for communication and accountability so students achieve

• Proven track record of raising pupil attainment in Science
• Some experience of leading and coaching others

• Ability to motivate and challenge learners of all abilities across Key Stages 3 to 5
• Passion for the subject evident in classroom practice
• Strong IT, administrative and organisational skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with children and adults

• High levels of ambition and optimism about what the Academy and its pupils can achieve

• Experience of coordinating BTEC qualifications

• Teaching and learning responsibility allowance (TLR 2A)
