About the RoleWe are recruiting a Business/Digital Skills Tutor to join a training provider in the justice sector, delivering business and digital skills learning within a prison education setting. You'll teach small groups of adult learners with a wide range of educational backgrounds, learning needs and abilities, helping them build practical, work-ready skills that support progression into employment.
Many of your learners will have had difficult experiences of education, so patience, empathy and a genuine belief in each individual's potential will matter as much as your subject knowledge.
Your responsibilities will include:- Planning and delivering engaging, inclusive business and digital skills sessions tailored to small groups of learners with varied abilities and backgrounds.
- Conducting initial assessments and diagnostics to establish learners' starting points, then setting up and maintaining Individual Learning Plans.
- Embedding literacy, numeracy and employability skills naturally into business and digital skills learning to support progression.
- Preparing learners for relevant qualifications and celebrating their achievements and personal development.
- Working closely with prison staff and the wider education team to ensure positive, holistic learner outcomes.
- A relevant Level 3 qualification in Business or Digital Skills
- Experience delivering engaging teaching and learning to adult learners
- Strong communication and classroom management skills
- Resilience and professionalism to work effectively in a secure environment
- A Level 5 teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed, DTLLS or equivalent), or willingness to work towards one
- Previous experience within prison education, FE or adult learning settings
