We are looking for a Day LTT Controller to join Thames Water permanently.
You will be working as part of a team of LTT (London Tideway Tunnels) Controllers that ensure the effective and continuous commissioning and operation of the London Tideway Tunnels. As well as the operation of the waste networks three largest and critical assets – Abbey Mills Sewage Pumping Station, Greenwich Sewage Pumping Station and Tideway Pumping Station.
As a Day LTT Controller, you will find that no working day is the same. This will provide a very interesting, challenging, and rewarding environment. Particularly, as you will be working on one of the biggest sewage treatment works in the UK and its largest wastewater tunnel system.
You will receive full training and support, as well as the provision of uniform, tools and PPE.
What you’ll be doing as a Day LTT Controller:- Protecting the River Thames from combined sewer overflows.
- Using SCADA, monitor the performance of all critical SPS and the London Tideway Tunnels assets·
- Monitoring alarms and raising jobs to the Maintenance Scheduler or Performance Manager as required.
- Responsible for the overall operation of the London Tideway Tunnels system.
- Monitoring weather patterns and assessing weather forecasts to activate the different modes of operation.
- Responding to specific reactive situations to mitigate risk, catchment flooding, or impact on the environment.
- Maintain electronic shift logs, compile end-of-shift handover documents and allow time for start and end-of-shift handovers.
- Monitoring, collating, and reporting of key data to ensure that statutory and regulatory compliance is met.
- Undertake safety and security checks and take responsibility for the health and safety of yourself and your colleagues.
- Review contractor Risk Assessment and Method Statements, issuing of authorisations and permits.
- Conduct site inductions.
- Be willing to provide cover for Shift LTT Controllers as required.
Monday – Friday from 07:30 am to 3:36 pm (38 hours working pattern). However, there may be an opportunity to be part of the LTT shift team (working a 12-hour rotating shift pattern) in the future.
What should you bring to the role?To thrive in this role, the essential criteria you’ll need are:
- Previous process control experience in the utilities industry or equivalent.
- Capable of data interpretation and report generation.
- Have excellent verbal and written communication skills to clearly interact with our stakeholders.
- Proactive, organised, and methodical approach.
- Fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Competent with IT systems, Excel, Word, email, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work and make key decisions under demanding situations.
- A current driving licence is also required.
- Experience using similar SCADA or GIS systems is desirable.
- Knowledge of Wastewater Network Operations, including Combined Sewer Overflows, Storm Relief Sewers, and Pumping Stations, would be advantageous.
- A basic understanding of Hydraulic Systems is desirable.
- Experience of safe systems of work, including risk assessments, method statements and permit-to-work procedures, is desirable.
- Offering a salary up to £41,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience.
- Entails a shadowing opportunity for up to 6 months with on-the-job training provided.
