A day in the life of a Murphy Design Manager
Lead design matters on Trunk Mains portfolio of projects on AMP8 Thames Water Utility Limited framework.
Produce design briefs for permanent (and temporary) works, defining the design scope
Lead technical reviews of submissions from our design partners
Ensure conformance to the Murphy Design Management procedure
Manage day to day interface between design and construction teams and maintain its adequate records
Review design progress according to programme and contractual requirements
Lead constructability reviews
Support Senior Design Managers, consultants and multi-discipline engineering teams to deliver the design solutions to schedule and budget to a high standard of professional competence
Management of design change to support best outcome for the project
Support with management of risk and opportunity in design

Significant experience in a design management role within the construction sector.
Management skills – confident in managing staff, clients, design budgets and programmes
Flexibility and willingness to travel
Engineering Degree qualified
Member of a recognised engineering institution. Incorporated Engineer or Chartered and or working towards membership
