Principal Engineer - Industrial Buildings

Astute's Nuclear Team partners with an international design consultancy to recruit a Principal Engineer – Industrial Buildings for their London‑based energy team, working alongside the Bristol team.

The position offers a salary of up to £65,000, a competitive company pension, flexible working and a market‑leading bonus scheme.

Ideal candidates are experienced Structural Engineers with a proven background on complex industrial building structures such as nuclear, train stations, hospitals, etc., and are looking for a change.

• Perform and assist in managing design duties on national and international design schemes to provide engineering solutions
• Oversee and direct time and budgets within the team
• Complete site visits as and when needed
• Keep track of the project and report back to management on progress
• Report into management of future business leads

• Ideally between 5‑8 years' experience as a Structural Engineer
• Experience designing complex industrial structures, such as nuclear, rail infrastructure, and healthcare
• Chartered with CEng, ICE or IStructE is essential
• Design experience with both reinforced concrete and steel

• Self‑motivated and committed, with a high degree of integrity
• Team player who positively contributes to the working group with a collaborative attitude
• Able to translate objectives into effective, practical steps
• Perform effectively within changing environments; demonstrates willingness and flexibility to meet business needs
• Demonstrates a strong desire to achieve, setting high standards for self and others, taking initiative and focusing on improving business performance
• Commitment to personal development

• Up to £65,000, dependent on experience
